As I sit on my JetBlue flight home from visiting family this past week, I’m reminded of how smoothly the trip went, and how with the right guidance and planning, it can be that way for travel clients. Mind you, things do happen, and as a travel advisor, I’d be remiss if I didn’t tell you that right from the get go. Flights are canceled, or delayed, or any number of other mishaps and missteps can make what can and should be a wonderful flight/business trip/getaway turn not so wonderful. I won’t sugarcoat the reality of travel. We all know, with this pandemic, that travel can and will be difficult at times. I’m here to talk about what happens when you use the guidance of a travel professional.
I had a 3 hour drive once I arrived at my destination. My car rental was chosen based on my budget and preferred rental company. I rented at the airport, a comfortable yet economical vehicle, with no issues. I was staying with family so no accommodations were needed. I noted that there were no buses running to Logan Airport, so I must either hire a private shuttle vehicle because of Covid-19 concerns, or drive myself and park. I made the decision to drive and park off site but close to Logan Airport. I made arrangements for parking and a shuttle to the airport offered as part of the parking fee paid. The day before my flight I checked in for my flight, made sure the flight was still showing as running on time. I drove to just outside Logan Airport, parked my car with a voucher I was provided, took the shuttle to Logan Airport, and then proceeded to TSA precheck. I will tell you I only had carry-on luggage, so avoided having to check in my bag, which made the trip through Logan quick and painless. The airport was a lot less crowded than usual for a Friday afternoon, due to the pandemic. However, taking the extra steps to avoid checked luggage and then using TSA Precheck made it even faster. My flight left on time. The airline did board the plane from back to front, and social distanced between seats. I had a window seat with no one beside me, and no aisle seats were filled unless traveling with a family and/or friend. Once arriving in my destination, I was able to go directly to the shuttle service to my car rental company, which was just a 5 minute ride from the airport. The drivers helped me with my bags, and seating was social distanced. I checked into the car rental company with my voucher. Everything was in order as I picked up my car and drove to my destination. The same order and ease of travel happened on my way home. I checked into my flight the day before departure, made sure my flight was on time, and got my boarding pass. I drove to the airport and dropped off my rental car by merely giving my name. They will send me an email of my business with them. My TSA Precheck went smoothly, and my flight took off without a hitch. I’ll shuttle to my personal vehicle from the airport and drive home tonight. With the guidance of a travel professional, your trip(s) can be just as easy. I do all the heavy lifting, from making recommendations for airlines, flight times available, offering advice on which accommodations to stay at, the logistics of how to get to and from your destination, booking excursions or dinner reservations, I am your guide, and take away the hassle of trying to figure it all out. All you have to do is pack your bags. Share the knowledge
